About Me-Sarah Jane Gebhart

I grew up in Rancho Cordova, California in a house with my parents, two older brothers, and my great grandmother. My grandmother, uncle, aunt, and 3 cousins live next door, so we all grew up very close. My family and I travel a lot. I’ve been to about 35 states and 7 countries (most of which last summer on a medical fellowship I did in Greece). From the time I was about 3, I always wanted to go into medicine. I want to do nursing, and that’s what my major is currently. I want to go into pediatrics or neonatal, and I’m excited to hopefully start nursing school in the fall!

I think my gifts mostly lie in science, I guess. I’ve always been pretty good at it, but I guess that stems mostly from interest. I also pick up languages easily, too. (I don’t like talking about myself..)

One of my brothers is autistic. I’ve never really known anything different but that made growing up different than for others I guess. It’s not a struggle at all, I love him dearly, but I think him being autistic changed the dynamics in my family a bit. The way we were raised and the way we acted were all changed at least a little bit because of Harley.

I have a chronic wrist injury from 2 different injuries. 4 surgeries in 9 years sure didn’t feel great but my wrist isn’t in pain so much anymore, so I’m at least thankful for the medical care I received (outside the doctor who didn’t believe me) and I’m glad it’s better for now.
